On November 8th, 14th, and 15th, the Mustang One Act cast and crew traveled to Elm Creek, Harvard, and Elba to compete with this year’s play, Alice in Wonderland: Urban Edition. The crew has been working hard memorizing lines, nailing down the props, and perfecting their characters since September. Sophomore Emma Strampher said, “We have put a lot of time, almost two months, into perfecting our performance. It’s a lot of early mornings, but it’s worth it.” The crew has been very successful this year with multiple actresses earning many different awards. At Elm Creek, receiving outstanding performance awards were senior Samantha Bonifas, juniors Taylor Hanson, Savanna Junek, and Lana Swanson, and sophomores Sophie Butler and Katelyn Strampher. The crew earned a third-place finish at the Twin Valley Conference meet. Receiving honorable mentions at TVC held in Harvard were Bonifas, Junek, Swanson, Strampher, Hanson, Butler, and junior Maddie Karr. The actors winning honorable mention awards at Elba included senior Marissa Erickson, junior Morgan Dinkler, Junek, Hanson, Butler, Bonifas, Strampher, Swanson, and Karr. The crew also hosted a performance for the elementary and high school students on November 22 during 9th period. That night, the Washington group hosted a dinner theater where community members were able to enjoy a meal and watch the performance. The group will compete at Districts in McCool Junction on November 29.
