The High School and Junior Quiz Bowl teams competed at their first meets of the season at their home invites on January 14th and 15th. The junior high team ended up placing 4th and the high school team ended up placing 5th.
High School team members include freshmen Kaylee Karr, Molly Hemberger, and Justin Sharp, sophomore Xander Journey, juniors MaKenna Karr, Beau Bonifas, Lanham Skrdlant, and senior Clay Plambeck. Junior high team members include 7th graders Colston Karr, Emily Hemberger, Leah Bartels, Olivia Whitten, and Mazie Boyd and 8th grader Graham Karr.
Coach Knehans said, “For the first meet of the season I thought we did fine. Everyone’s a little nervous to buzz in on those first questions so the Silver Lake Invite is a good meet to get both teams’ confidence up.”
Each of the teams traveled to Kenesaw for their next meet. The junior high team went 1-2, both losses coming in overtime. The high school team went 3-1, tying for first place.
Both teams will compete this week at the ESU9 quiz bowl invitational, held at North Shore Church in Hastings. The high school will compete on Wednesday, February 5th, and the junior high on Thursday, February 6th, both starting at 9 AM.
