Silver Lake sent four teams to compete in the three-day quiz bowl competition hosted by ESU9. The elementary quiz bowl team competed on February 4th, and they placed 6th out of the 35 team field. The team consisted of Scartell Brais, Janaya Dinkler, Bella Schmidt, Cooper Crowe, Miles Bauer, Bria Swier, Kira Sidlo, and Caleb Bartels. They started their day competing against Sutton in the first round. They defeated Sutton, to move on to also defeat Harvard in the second round of the tournament. The team unfortunately fell to Blue Hill, who went on to place 2nd, in the third round, which placed them in the consolation bracket where they worked to move up to 6th place. The team defeated Doniphan-Trumbull in the first round of the consolation bracket, and then defeated Aurora 5th. Sadly, they ended their day by falling to Aurora 6th.
On February 5th, the high school had two teams competing. The maroon team, consisting of team members, Emma Strampher, Katelyn Strampher, Logan Duester, Landon Duester, Cody Plambeck, Casey Conway, and Trevor Kral, placed 9th out of 35 teams. They defeated Superior in the first round, but fell to St. Cecelia Blue, who placed 2nd in the tournament, in the second round. Then, they beat Aurora and Doniphan-Trumbull Yellow in the consolation bracket, but unfortunately their comeback ended short with their loss to Lawrence-Nelson. Silver Lake Black, consisting of team members Molly Hemberger, MaKenna Karr, Kaylee Karr, Lanham Skrdlant, Beau Bonifas, Clay Plambeck, Xander Journey, and Justin Sharp ended their day early with losses to Adams Central White and Giltner.
The following day, the Junior High team, which includes Colston Karr, Jacob Dinkler, Graham Karr, Wyatt Rowe, Olivia Whitten, Mazie Boyd, Leah Bartels, and Emily Hemberger, earned 10th place out of 29 teams. After a bye, the team defeated Harvard Black, but then lost to Adams Central in their second round. Then, they fell to St. Cecilia Blue, who went on to earn second place, in their first consolation match. The teams worked together to compete against some very tough competition.
