The Silver Lake Speech Team traveled to High Plains to compete in their first speech meet of the season on January 18th. 16 teams competed at this meet. The Silver Speech Team has 10 members this year including Isabella Whitten, Frank Thomas, Molly Hemberger, Brooklyn Himmelberg, Lee Gibson, Justin Sharp, Conner Blythe, Emma Strampher, Katelyn Strampher, and Xander Journey.
Freshman Molly Hemberger commented on the meet, “For the first meet, I think it went well. This meet was a bigger meet and it showed what we needed to work on in our speeches.”
Katelyn & Emma Strampher placed 3rd in their duet. Emma Strampher placed 6th with her Humorous speech. Molly Hemberger placed 6th in Novice Poetry. Conner Blythe placed 6th in Novice Humorous. Lastly, Isabella Whitten placed 2nd Novice POI. The team will compete at Doniphan-Trumbull, Minden, Elm Creek, TVC @ Deshler, Holdrege, and Districts @ GICC.
