On March 10, Silver Lake FFA members pulled on their jeans and boots for a morning of Career Development Events. This district competition helps FFA members decide what possible future career they are interested in. Reagan Rust, Georgi tenBensel, Kassi Jones, and Sydney Bartels competed in the Vet Science category. This consisted of a team identification test, an individual general vet test, and a practicum. The ladies received 8th place. Samantha Bonifas, Brooklyn Meyer, Madison Karr, and Ashley Bonifas competed in the Floriculture category. This consisted of making Boutonnières as a team, and as individuals, they took a knowledge test and took a flower and parts identification test. They placed 13th overall. Blaine Simonton, Keaton Karr, Brayden Hemberger, and Jack Sorenson competed in the Agricultural Mechanics category. It consisted of two parts: electrical and hydraulics. For each part, two team members took an identification test. Then for the hands-on part of electrical, they wired a lamp, a light switch, and a receptacle. For hydraulics, they identified hydraulic symbols and parts. They received 9th place. Congratulations to all teams!
