Homecoming Week Serves as a Highlight for Silver Lake Students

By Heather Jensby

“My favorite part of homecoming is all the school spirit and the pep rally,” said senior MaKenna Karr.

Homecoming week is always a highlight of the school year. A time when the entire student body comes together to celebrate Mustang pride through dress-up days, hallway decorating, and spirited activities. Each day, classes competed for the best interpretation of the day’s theme, with the winning class earning the privilege of eating lunch first.

This year’s dress-up days included the following:

Monday: Throwback Music Day

Tuesday: Dr. Seuss Day

Wednesday: Twin Day

Thursday: Color Wars

Friday: School Spirit Day

The hallway decorating theme was Board Games. Each class worked hard to bring their game to life. The different hallways featured were the following:

Seniors: Monopoly

Juniors: Jumanji

Sophomores: Clue

Freshmen: Risk

7th and 8th grades: Life

Students also showed their Mustang spirit by getting their vehicles painted for the week’s festivities. Throughout the week, staff members and students participated in interviews, photo opportunities, and friendly competitions that encouraged creativity and community.

Homecoming week culminated in Friday’s pep rally and the much-anticipated football game, with the dance to follow. The pep rally featured exciting games, class competitions, and plenty of cheering to get everyone ready for the evening’s matchup.

This year’s Homecoming King candidates were Beau Bonifas, Landon Duester, Lanham Skrdlant, and Jaxon tenBensel, and the Queen candidates were Kamille Karr, Kerra Hofstetter, MaKenna Karr, and Sophie Schmidt. After the football game, Beau Bonifas and Sophie Schmidt were crowned the 2025 Homecoming King and Queen.
