Homecoming Festivities

By: Shaylen Beaty

Every Homecoming week throughout the years has had something special to it. From extravagant decor to extraordinarily creative themes, there was always something that made the homecoming week memorable. As we all know, 2020 has brought an entire ordeal of strange events, some very minor while others have brought chaos to everyone around us. With these various events occurring, this year’s homecoming was truly an experience. Instead of choosing a whole class of winners, we had individual winners from each class.

For Monday, it was Movie/TV Show Character Day. The winners include: Senior – Trenton Schmidt as Ace Ventura; Junior – Amanda Erhman as Dumb and Dumber; Sophomore – Braden Karr as Si from Duck Dynasty; Freshman- Louden as Valek the Nun; 8th grader – Katy Soucek as Woody; 7th grader – Sophie Schmidt as Patrick; Teacher – Mrs. Hinrichs as the Mandalorian.

For Tuesday, it was Hawaiian Day. The winners include: Teacher – Mrs. Heuertz, Senior – Tristan Kasson, Junior – Trista Hanson, Sophomore – Samantha Bonifas, Freshman – Lana Swanson, 8th grader – Kenna Pankoke, and 7th grader – Kamile Karr.

For Wednesday, it was Daycare/Nursing Home Day, where everyone had to dress as either an elder or a toddler/infant. For the winners, we have: Senior – Lane Parr, Junior – Trista Hanson, Sophomore- Georgi tenBensel, Freshman – Taylor Hanson, 8th grader – Macy Parr, 7th grader – Kerra Hofstetter, and Teacher – Ms. Baker.

Thursday was Color War day. This was the one day an entire class held the winner place! The winner for this year’s color war was the Seniors.

On Friday, it was School Spirit day. For this day, there were no winners! Everyone is a winner on School Spirit Day.

As stated before, this year’s homecoming was something special, something different, but the struggles of this year were not going to deter the dedication of Silver Lake’s strong students!
