On Friday, October 23, the Silver Lake Mustangs played the Red Cloud Warriors in Red Cloud. Silver Lake fell to the undefeated Warriors 37-20. During the first quarter, Silver Lake was unable to find the endzone. However, during the second quarter, Silver Lake got the offense rolling by scoring 12 points. Coming out of the half, the Mustang offense went cold, unable to put points on the board for the third quarter. To end the game, Silver Lake put up 8 points in the fourth quarter. Coach Conroy said, “Even though we lost against Red Cloud, I thought it was one of our best games we played. Red Cloud is undefeated and we gave them everything we had; which I can’t ask for much more from the guys.” The Silver Lake Mustangs had a pretty challenging season this year. Coach Conroy said this about the whole season: “It is hard to describe this season because we didn’t know if we were going to be playing games from week to week because of Covid or we didn’t know if kids were going to get quarantined. The silver lining about this season was a lot of players got some varsity action that they may not have otherwise in a normal year; which will help us in the future. I thought the guys handled the whole situation well. They didn’t complain and the next guy up came in and did well for us.”
