FFA Banquet

By: Sydney Bartels

Silver Lake FFA members and parents celebrated 7 years of FFA at Silver Lake on March 16 at the annual FFA banquet put on by the officers and the advisor. The FFA 2020/21 officers and their stations include President, Samantha Bonifas; Vice President, Ashley Bonifas; Secretary, Madison Karr; Treasurer, Brock Karr; Reporter, Sydney Bartels; Sentinel, Kassi Jones; and the Advisor, Andrea Curlo. The evening started off with a welcome from Samantha Bonifas and a prayer led by Brock Karr. Then came the meal which consisted of chicken cordon bleu, green beans, cheesy potatoes, and a roll. For dessert, there was a variety of delicious cheesecakes. At 6:30, the banquet began. It started off with MaKenna Karr introducing the Jr. High and High School FFA officers. The Jr. High officers include President, Cody Plambeck; Vice President, Casey Conway; Secretary, Paxton Sorenson; Treasurer, Lane Conway; Reporter, Beau Bonifas; and Sentinel, MaKenna Karr. Then the High School officers began an official meeting of the FFA, with their opening ceremonies, which are used to begin any official meeting of the FFA. Then Madison Karr gave a giant thanks to everyone who helped the FFA have a successful year. The largest part of the banquet came next, where all of the officers took turns awarding members who had received awards throughout the year. Kassi Jones then guided everyone in reflecting on the year, with a video that included pictures of every event the FFA Chapter went to or put on. After that, the senior members of the FFA retired their jackets on the chapter’s FFA fence. Brock Karr gave them a final thank you for their service to the chapter and luck for the future. Finally came the most anticipated part of the night. The installation of the new officers for the next year. The High School 2021/22 FFA members and their offices include President, Samantha Bonifas; Vice President, Ashley Bonifas; Secretary, Madison Karr; Treasurer, Kassi Jones; Reporter, Sydney Bartels; and Sentinel, Savanna Junek. Congratulations to everyone who received an award or an officer position!
