The 2019-2020 Silver Lake Quiz Bowl team consisting of sixth-graders Karah Bartels, Beau Bonifas, Landon Duester, Hayden Karr, MaKenna Karr, Trevor Kral, Lanham Skrdlant, and Benjamin Wasson have competed in a number a meets this school year. Practicing with the team have been fifth grade alternates Logan Duester and Xander Journey. They began their competitive season in Franklin on November 13th where they placed 4th. They then traveled to Kenesaw on November 25 to compete before hosting their annual Silver Lake Invite on Tuesday, January 21st. Both meets were successful for the team as they became more confident on the buzzers. The team’s favorite meet is always the ESU 9 Quiz Bowl Meet, which is held in Hastings at the North Shore Church with over 40 teams participating. This meet was held on Tuesday, February 4th. The team came out strong winning their first match 60-5 in this double-elimination tournament. The next two matches were close losses for the team to tough teams. The team will finish the year with the America Answers online quiz bowl in April.
