The Silver Lake E-sports team traveled to Concordia University to participate in the NSAA rocket league championships on November 20, 2021. Rocket league is a 3 versus 3 game that is the best of 5. The Silver Lake lineup included senior Nathan Acosta and sophomores Adrian Gomez and Manuel Fontes. The Mustangs first matched up against S-E-M. They struggled to get into a groove in the first game, but came back to win the next 3. “Our communication was not good in the first game. Then we fixed our mistakes and worked together to win,” said Acosta. Eager to take the title, the Mustangs prepared to play the Leyton Warriors. The Mustangs lost the first game but followed their comeback pattern to beat the Warriors 3-1 to win the state championship trophy. Silver Lake is beyond proud of the E-sports team and their hard work for a well-deserved title. “It felt very nice and we were super excited. It motivates us to compete for Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate for the next semester,” said Acosta.
