Members of the Silver Lake FBLA chapter traveled to compete at the State Leadership Conference, also known as SLC, located in Kearney. SLC is a great opportunity to build business skills and interact with others. This year’s members who attended were seniors Lexi Wengler, Brooklyn Meyer, and Samantha Bonifas; juniors Sydney Bartels, Morgan Dinkler, Taylor Hanson, Madison Karr, and Lana Swanson; and sophomores Milla Butler, Sophie Butler, Emma Strampher, and Katelyn Strampher. It was a three-day event where the members competed in tests and attended seminars. Bonifas did exceptionally well in her tests, as she placed 7th in Business Communication, 13th in Advertising, and 4th in Agribusiness. She qualified for the National Leadership Conference in Agribusiness, and she will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in June. In Healthcare Administration, Karr placed 13th and Bartels placed 15th. Mrs. Behmer explained, “I was super excited about taking the group of girls this year because I knew that it would be a lot of fun, and I was hoping for a lot of success. Samantha Bonifas qualified for nationals in Agribusiness and also placed in her two other tests, along with Sydney Bartels and Maddie Karr who also got honorable mentions. This really fulfilled my expectations. I am hoping that this group of members will inspire future members to be active in FBLA, and hopefully, in the future, we can take more students to nationals.”
