The Mustangs golf team traveled to Red Cloud Country Club for the Red Cloud Quad to begin their golf season. Sophomores Beau Bonifas, Trevor Kral, and Hunter Faimon played the varsity while the rest of the team competed on JV. Head Coach Ryan Behmer said, “The weather at Red Cloud was not very optimal with 40+ mile an hour wind, but our golfers powered through and all played well.” Although none of the golfers placed, they all played well. Beau Bonifas stated, “I started rough but everything clicked on that back 9. Battling through the wind and the cold was tough, but I came out with a score that I am proud of, and there will always be room for improvement next meet.” The two best varsity scores were Beau with 105 and Trevor with 113. The best JV scorer was freshman Xander Journey scoring 111. Behmer said, “As the season progresses, I am certain we will continue to see scores fall. With such a young team this year, we are still learning how to properly manage a full round. I am excited to see where our scores are come district time.” After that, the golfers would go back the next week for the Bob Bohrer where all of the golfers would compete well and although the meet was long it was very fun. That’s all the next meet they will compete at is a duel against Red Cloud at The Elks.
