Once again, the FBLA hosted their traditional event of the March of Dimes, but this year they also added the Pennies for Patients organization to this annual fundraiser. Based on the previous year’s donations, this year Silver Lake FBLA organization set a goal of $650. The Mustangs were able to end up with an impressive total amount at the High School of $1108.17. To award these hard-working students, the FBLA organization will be hosting a dodge ball game between the winning grades. After a week of raising money and a constant battle between the classes, the winning grades of the 2019-2020 March of Dimes donations were the eighth grade in first place with a total amount raised of $484.04. The sophomores were close behind coming in second place raising a grand total of $408.48.
Once the younger Mustangs started to hear how much fun the High Schoolers were having with raising money, the Elementary School wanted to get involved with this excitement. So by the end of the week for them, their total amount raised just at that school was $179.15, and most of it was raised with the help of the fourth-grade class who raised a total of $109.52. FBLA adviser Mrs. Behmer commented on the event saying, “The kids at Silver Lake always amaze me with how generous they are with this event. In my five years of doing this, we have never raised over $1000. This year the kids went above and beyond to help the families and kids affected by premature births and cancer. Thank you so much to everyone who donated.”
