The Lady Mustangs had a strong 2022 season with a winning record of 19-12. This season, the Lady Mustangs welcomed three new coaches to their staff for the 2023 campaign. Under the leadership of first-year head coach Shelby Rupprecht and assistant coaches Becky Bartels and Alex Ehrman, the Mustangs are looking to continue this winning trend. Coach Rupprecht commented, “As the season progresses, I would like to see the whole team continue to build on what is already a great bond. This is a great group that is genuinely happy for one another, and I want that to continue to grow. I’m also very excited to see how individuals continue to break out of their shells as they step into new roles or continue to improve in their current positions. Although we are staying focused and preparing for one game at a time, I know they are going to accomplish a lot this season, and I’m very excited for them.” The Lady Mustangs lost six seniors to graduation, but they have 17 returning players: five seniors, seven juniors, five sophomores, and one incoming freshman. All five seniors (Sydney Bartels #16, Emily Cantrell #19, Morgan Dinkler # 17, Maddie Karr #13, and Lana Swanson #3) have been playing since they were freshmen and they are all excited to see how the season plays out. The Mustang’s first game is on Thursday, August 24th in Bladen vs. McCool Junction. They will compete in their first tournament on Saturday, August 26th in Axtell.
