On Friday, March 25, the high school track team traveled to Wilcox for their first outdoor track meet. Though a few members were not able to compete, the Mustangs pushed through and earned a few placings. Adrian Gomez placed 6th in shot put and discus, throwing 40’ 07” for shotput and 103’ 03” for discus. Brock Karr placed 5th in 300-meter hurdles, running a 45:50. Sophie Butler placed 6th in the 1600 meter with a time of 6:37, and Katelyn Strampher placed 5th in discus, throwing 88’ 04”. When asked how the first outdoor meet went, Coach Conroy said, “I think it went well for the conditions we were in. It started out as a typical March track meet; it was cold and windy, and then it ended up being a nice day. We had a few injuries, so not everybody was able to compete, but we are looking to get to full strength next week.” The Mustangs competed well at the Wilcox meet, and they’re looking forward to next week’s meet at Kenesaw on Tuesday, March 29.
