Though the Silver Lake Mustangs traveled to Smith Center on Monday, October 3rd hoping for a win, they ended up falling short to both the Smith Center Redmen and the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles. Throughout working hard in the first half of the game, the Mustangs, unfortunately, did not pull off a win against the Eagles, the first set ending with a score of 25 to 12. Again, the second set did not end up working out in the Mustangs’ favor, the score ending 25 to 8. Getting around the Eagles’ tough defense, the leading attackers for the Mustangs were seniors Georgi tenBensel and Lexi Wengler, with 5 and 2 kills. The players excelling in defense against the Eagles were tenBensel with 8 digs, freshman Sophie Schmidt with 6 digs, and senior Brooklyn Meyer with 4 digs. The Eagles came out on top, winning the game in 2 sets. Although the Mustangs put up a good fight, the Redmen also won in two sets.
