On Saturday, January 16 the Mustangs traveled to Loomis for a day of basketball. To start off the day the Lady Mustangs beat the Wolves 45 to 41 in a high-intensity game. In the first quarter, the Mustangs scored 17 points. Followed by 6 points in the second quarter. By half time the girls were down 23 to 25. After halftime, the Mustangs came out strong and scored 16 more points. To win the game, in the fourth quarter they scored six more points. Katelyn Karr scored an impressive 13 points. Kerrigan Karr also contributed to the scoreboard adding 10 points. Madison Miller, Amanda Ehrman, Georgi tenBensel, and Samantha Bonifas also scored during the game. The girls played well in a hard-fought battle to come out on top.
Followed by the girl’s game, the boys ended up losing to Loomis 41 to 60. Although they lost, they fought hard. In the first quarter, the boys scored 7 points, and in the second quarter, they scored 9. At halftime, the Mustangs were down 16 to 30. In the third quarter, they picked it up a little bit scoring 11 points. In the last quarter, the boys scored 14 points falling short with a score of 41 to 60. Matthew Hansen scored 16 points followed by Oakley Rosno scoring 15 points. Blaine Simonton, Logan Greenough, and Quin Rosno also added to the score.
