The Mustangs Go 2-0 at Red Cloud

By: Kerigan Karr & Seirra Watts-Hofstetter

Friday, January 22 the Mustang boys and girls headed down to Red Cloud for a fun night of basketball. To start off the night the Lady Mustangs beat the Warriors 39-21. In the first quarter, the Lady Mustangs scored 9 to the Warriors 8.  In the second quarter, the Lady Mustangs added 14 before halftime putting the score to 23-10. Coming out of halftime ready to play the third quarter the Lady Mustangs added 9 more to the score. Finishing the game in the fourth quarter the Lady Mustangs finished 39-21. Kerigan Karr finished the game with 12, and Amanda Ehrman scored 9. Katelyn Karr had to say this about the game, “Red Cloud was probably one of the better defensive teams that we have played. We didn’t come out as strong in the beginning, but during the game, we started playing like we usually do. Even though things didn’t go our way, we still battle through and won!”

For the final game of the night, the boys showed they came to win. The Mustangs at the end of the first quarter scored 10 points to Warrior boys 3. In the second quarter, the Mustangs put up 18 more points right before halftime making the score 28-9. Coming out of halftime feeling great about the first half the boys ended the third quarter with an additional 14 points. After slowing the Warriors down, the Mustangs finished the game 61-24. Oakley Rosno led the team with 16 points, and Blaine Simonton contributed 11.  Senior Matthew Hansen commented, “We played well. We ran our offense more than we have in the last few games, and we executed well.”
