On the eleventh month, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh hour in 1919 became the national holiday we all know to this day as Veteran’s day. Veteran’s day is showing respect and recognition to all the men and women who sacrificed their lives and put them on the line to fight for the freedom we are so grateful for.
This year’s Veteran’s Day program looked a little different compared to past years. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, veteran’s were not to be in the school building. This year Vice President for student council, Madison Miller, started off the program with the pledge of allegiance and a small intro about what was going to be done at the program. Senior Shaylen Beaty and sophomore Samantha Bonifas also wowed the crowd with their singing of the National Anthem. After all was said and done, President Luke Swanson finished us off with a heartfelt speech to honor those who fell and those who are still serving. Silver Lake Student Council still wanted to honor the veterans and show them their respect so a drive through system was set up so they could be served a meal and show how much they are appreciated! Thank you to all the Veterans!
