On February 20, students competed in the Silver Lake Science Fair. Twenty-six of these hard-working students moved on to the Regional Science fair in Hastings Nebraska. The students that advanced were Tyler Cumpston, Brock Karr, Max Hammer, Nathan Nabower, Katelyn Karr, Cierra Mankey, Samantha Bonifas, Kassi Jones, Reagan Rust, Josi Sharp, Georgi Tenbensel, Eric Blythe, Ashley Bonifas, Sydney Bartels, Lana Swanson, Maddie Karr, Morgan Dinkler, Taylor Hanson, Keaton Karr, Brayden Hemberger, Clay Plambeck, Milla Butler, Casey and Lane Conway, Emma Schmidt, and Blake Monie. The Regional Science Fair was hosted at Hastings College on March 4, with the level of competition increasing. The students that advanced made Silver Lake proud with their professionalism and dedication to their projects. Eighth-grader Lana Swanson advanced to the state science fair and will be representing Silver Lake. Science teacher Kim Bonifas commented on the success and accomplishments of the students and said “Our students represented Silver Lake well at the Hastings Regional Science Fair on Wednesday, March 4th. The group brought home six purple ribbons, twelve blue ribbons, and eight red ribbons. A special congratulations to Lana Swanson, who will advance to the State Science Fair in Lincoln in April.” Congratulations and good luck to Lana!
