The Silver Lake boys basketball team faced off against Exeter Milligan for the opening day of the 27th annual Holiday Tournament. The Mustangs started off the game with an 11-11 first quarter. In the second quarter, Silver Lake outscored the Timberwolves to have a 22-16 lead at halftime. Senior Oakley Rosno led the team with 19 points followed by junior Jake Knehans with 10. The Mustangs played a strong second half to finish the game 47-35.
The Mustang men then took on the Shelton Bulldogs for the championship game. The Bulldogs pushed the ball at a pace that the Mustangs could not quite handle. “Our transition defense was not the best,” said Knehans. “We hope to improve that when we see them again.” Despite a great effort from the home team, Silver Lake lost 53-39. Rosno led the team with 21 points. Senior Brock Karr pulled 10 rebounds for the team. The Silver Lake men ended the holiday break with a second place finish.
