The Silver Lake Mustangs traveled to Hampton High School for a meet up under the lights on Friday, October 11. On the frigid Friday night, the Hampton Hawks were set to celebrate their Homecoming, but Silver Lake had plans to spoil that. The game began with Silver Lake’s offense going 3 and out and punting to the Hawks. On Hampton’s first offensive play they fumbled and Canyen Jameson was able to corral the football on the Hampton 10 yard line. Four plays later, Oakley Rosno was able to scamper into the endzone for the games first points. On the Hawk’s second offensive possession was another fumble. This time Blaine Simonton was able to jump on the ball, setting the Mustangs up on the Hawk’s 34-yard line. Following the turnover, it only took the Mustang offense two plays for Zane Journey to ramble 34 yards to the endzone. After both team’s offenses were forced to punt, the Hawk’s were able to get on the board with a 27-yard touchdown pass on 4th down. The Mustang offense was able to respond with Jake Knehans throwing a touchdown pass to Canyen Jameson to put the Mustangs up 20-7 in the second quarter. On the ensuing possession, the Mustang defense was able to force a turnover on downs. The 4th score of the first half was another touchdown pass from Jake Knehans, this time to Tommy Grimes from 3 yards out. The final score of the half for the Mustangs came when Knehans connected with Grimes again this time from 10 yards out. The score at halftime was Mustangs 34, Hawks 7. That was all the Mustangs needed, with the final score being Silver Lake 49, Hampton Hawks 13. STATS(PASSING:Completions-Attempts-Yards-Touchdowns) Jake Knehans-4-10-45-3, Oakley Rosno-1-2-25-1).
