With Silver Lake principal Terry Bauer taking on the job of superintendent, the principal position opened up. Silver Lake fifth grade teacher, Joshua Drake, applied, received, and accepted the position. Drake has been a fifth-grade teacher at Silver Lake for 9 years. He says that in his nine years at Silver Lake, he has fallen in love with the school. “I really enjoy the people. We have great kids who are respectful. We have an administration and staff that are willing to go the extra mile to make sure our students have everything that they need to be successful. Finally, the support of our school board and communities is second to none.” Along with teaching, Drake has also coached volleyball, basketball, track, and led the steering committee. He has been a great teacher, coach, and role model to the students, staff, and community of Silver Lake. As Drake gets ready to transition into being the high school principal, he says “The thing I’m looking forward to most is being able to interact with a larger number of students and staff members on a regular basis. Seeing a group of kids continue to grow as young adults is really exciting to me.” Silver Lake is excited to see what Mr. Drake will do in the future.
