Fire it up Mustang fans because your Silver Lake Lady Mustangs just beat the Bobcats. On September 7th, 2021, the junior varsity came out strong winning all three sets. Junior Samantha Bonifas commented, “There’s always a lot of pressure playing Blue Hill because they are our rival and they have always been our rival, but we stepped onto the floor not thinking about that and in turn won all three sets. I was really proud of the younger classmen for being aggressive; I think this is one of the best freshman classes I have ever seen. They don’t act like they’re scared, and I’m very excited to see how far we go this season.” The varsity came out strong but they were neck and neck with Blue Hill the whole first set. Blue Hill came back in the first set to win 24-26. The next three sets were all Mustangs with Silver Lake winning all three. Junior Georgi tenBensel led the team with a total of 15 kills. Senior Katelyn Karr helped out our setters with 30 digs and senior Trista Hanson had 20 assists. Coach Baker said, “I thought we played very scrappy and intense. I thought the girls kept their composure after losing the first set. They came back in the next three sets with determination and passion to win.” The Mustangs improved their record to 7-4.
