On September 2, the Lady Mustangs held the Silver Lake Volleyball Triangle with Grand Island Lutheran and Harvard. The triangle started with Grand Island Lutheran vs. the Lady Mustangs, with the Lady Mustangs losing 0-2. Both sets were very close; the first one ended with a 20-25 score, and the second set was 25-27. Senior outside hitter MaKenna Karr earned 10 kills in the course of the two sets. Senior libero Sophie Schmidt had a great night, ending the first game with 20 digs and receiving 17 serves. Senior setter and right side hitter Kerra Hofstetter had 11 assists, leading the team in assists. Right behind her, sophomore setter and right-side hitter Libby Soucek had 10 assists and 12 digs. In all, they played a very well-balanced game and held strong throughout the game.
In the Lady Mustangs’ second game in the triangle against Harvard, they won 2-0. The ending score for the first set was 16-25, and the second set was 9-25. MaKenna Karr earned six kills and five digs. Schmidt also had a great game, racking up eight aces in the course of the two sets. Soucek led the team in assists with eight.
