On Tuesday, April 5th, the Silver Lake Track team traveled to Franklin to compete. This is the fourth meet of the season. The Mustangs competed to the best of their abilities, and it paid off. Coach Conroy mentions, “Both the boys and girls teams scored the most points at this track compared to the others. This shows that everyone is improving as the season progresses.” As a whole, Silver Lake placed in 16 events. In field events, sophomore Adrian Gomez placed 3rd in discus and 1st in shot. Freshman Katelyn Strampher placed 2nd in discus. The Mustang’s relay teams competed very well. The girl’s 4×4 relay, consisting of junior Georgi tenBensel, sophomore Morgan Dinkler, Strampher, and freshman Sophie Butler, placed 6th. The girl’s 4×1 Relay including tenBensel, freshman Macy Parr, Strampher, and sophomore Emily Monie placed 6th. The girl’s 4×800 relay placed 1st. The members of this relay are Dinkler, Monie, freshman Milla Butler, and Sophie Butler. The boy’s 4×800 relay placed 3rd. This relay was made up of sophomore Easton Heuertz, freshman Jeremy Sharp, senior Michael Trausch, and sophomore Jack Sorensen. The Lady Mustangs did remarkably well in distance. In the 3200 meter run, Dinkler placed 1st. For the 1600 meter run, Sophie Butler received 3rd place and Milla Butler received 4th place. In the 800 meter run, Dinkler placed 3rd, Sophie Butler placed 5th, and Milla Butler placed 6th. In hurdles, Brock Karr placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles and 4th in the 110m hurdles. tenBensel placed 1st in the 300m hurdles. The Mustangs will compete again next Thursday at the Shelton track invite.
