Mustangs’ Hard-Fought Loss

The Mustangs had a hard-fought loss against Maywood Hayes Center on Friday, September 9. The Mustangs started the game on top, scoring 14 points to the Wolves’ six. However, the Wolves had a strong second and third quarter, and despite the Mustangs’ attempts to come back in the fourth, the Wolves were able to fend off the Mustangs with a score of 59 to 50. Junior Keaton Karr had 44 carries for 334 rushing yards against the Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves. Karr averaged 7.6 yards per carry. Junior Adrian Gomez had 13 carries for 104 yards, averaging 8 yards per carry. The team had a total of 69 carries for 479 yards. Coach Behmer said, “We would like to improve on our passing. You run passing plays to complete them. You need a balanced offense.” Senior Jake Knehans had 6 tackles, 4 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles on defense. Gomez had 7 tackles, 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles.
