On Friday, October 10, the Silver Lake Mustangs faced off against the Red Cloud Warriors in an intense football matchup. In the first quarter, Red Cloud took the lead with 19 points, while Silver Lake followed close behind with 12. During the second quarter, the Warriors added 21 more points, and the Mustangs scored 6. The third quarter saw Silver Lake fight back, outscoring Red Cloud 7-6. In the final quarter, Red Cloud took its lead with 21 points, while Silver Lake added another 12. The final score was Red Cloud 67, Silver Lake 37. Despite the loss, the Mustangs put up a strong fight, scoring more points against Red Cloud than any other team this season. Quarterback Beau Bonifas led the offense with an impressive 260 passing yards on 19 completions for 5 touchdowns, finding Jaxon tenBensel for 8 of those passes, 4 of which found him in the endzone. Brody Knehans also caught four passes and secured a touchdown. tenBensel also contributed 67 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Lanham Skrdlant and tenBensel led the defense with 11 tackles apiece. Landon Duester added 10 of his own. It was a hard-fought game that showed the Mustangs’ determination and growth on the field.
