Mustangs Continue Winning Streak

By Milla Butler

The Mustang volleyball team took on their rivals, the Blue Hill Bobcats for their seventh regular season game, and were determined to come out with another win. With fierce determination and aggression, they took the win, improving their record to 6-1. Starting out strong in the first set, the girls achieved a score of 25-18. Finishing the game in three sets, the Mustangs defeated the Bobcats with scores of 25-12 and 26-24. Offensive team leaders included juniors Katy Soucek and Macy Parr with 11 and 7 kills and senior Sydney Bartels with 7 kills. Also contributing to the offense was junior Emma Schmidt, with 5 service aces and 14 assists. Senior Morgan Dinkler also contributed, acquiring 12 assists. Defensive leaders included sophomore Sophie Schmidt with 17 digs, senior Morgan Dinkler with 10 digs, and junior Sophie Butler with 8. Commenting on the Mustangs’ win against the Bobcats, Parr comments “A few things that really helped us in last night’s game are the fact that we were constantly communicating on the court and we never let our energy drop no matter what happened in the previous play. We stopped letting as many balls drop, and overall the whole team was more defensively sound. We made use of all our fundamental skills to cut out the simple mistakes and to remember to play as a team. Overall, the team drastically improved since our last game, and now we just have to focus on preparing for Thursday’s game.”
