The Silver Lake track team competed at Wilcox on Friday, March 24 for their first outdoor meet of the season. Many team members placed at this meet. Freshman Hayden Karr placed 6th in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Junior Adrian Gomez also placed in both throwing events getting 3rd in discus with a throw of 112-.05 and also getting 2nd in shotput with a throw of 43-00.25. The boys look forward to their next met. The Mustang girls also came into the meet with determination and fire to win. Senior Georgi tenBensel placed 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles and 6th in the 100-meter hurdles. Sophomore Katelyn Strampher also placed in this meet getting 3rd in discus. Lastly, for individuals, freshman Sophie Schmidt got 6th in the long jump. For the girl’s 4×100 meter relay, the girl’s team got 2nd with runners composed of freshmen Makenna Karr and Sophie Schmidt, sophomore Katy Soucek, and tenBensel. The team did really well and is looking forward to the next meet on Tuesday, April 4 at Franklin.
