Mustangs Battle in Week-Long Conference Tournament

By: Luke Swanson

Competing in the first round of the TVC tournament, Silver Lake defeated the Franklin Flyers for the second time this season. Oakley Rosno led the team in points, with 20 total points. The game was neck and neck at the end of the first half, with a score of 14-18. Although the Mustangs were down at the end of the second half, they managed to pull ahead and win the game 43-33. Matthew Hansen assisted the team with a total of nine rebounds. The big win against the Flyers moved the Mustangs on to play against the Raiders.

Just the week before, Silver Lake played Lawrence-Nelson and lost by six points. The Mustangs knew it would be a tough matchup. Both teams scored 11 points in the first quarter. Rosno led the team in points with a total of 21. Not only did Rosno lead in points, but also had a total of six assists. The Raiders slowly pulled away and defeated the Mustangs once again, with a final score of 39-47.

In the final round of the TVC tournament, the Mustangs faced off against Shelton for the first time this season. The game took place in Lynn Farrell Arena, where the Mustangs and the Bulldogs would battle it out for 3rd and 4th place. Following in his older brother’s footsteps, Quinn Rosno scored 12 of the Mustangs 28 points. Hansen fought hard down low, getting a total of 8 rebounds. Silver Lake battled, but could not pull off the win over the #1 ranked team. After a long week of conference battles, the Mustangs brought home 4th place.
