The Boys played Gibbon at home on Tuesday, December 13. The team battled hard but lost 44-40. The game started out slowly offensively for both teams, with Silver Lake putting up 4 points and Gibbon scoring 5. It was a hard-fought game for both sides. In the second quarter, both teams found an offensive groove, with Gibbon scoring 15 points and Silver Lake scoring 14 points, keeping the score close going into the break. The third quarter was yet another close score with Gibbon scoring 8 and Silver Lake scoring 7. In the fourth quarter, Silver Lake was unable to overcome the deficit. Gibbon scored 16 and Silver Lake scored 15, leaving the final score at 44-40.
That same week, Silver Lake faced off against Kenesaw on Friday, December 16. In the first quarter, Kenesaw scored 13 points and Silver Lake scored 6. In the second quarter, Silver Lake scored 2 while Kenesaw scored 13. The total for the first half was 26-8. At the start of the second half, Kenesaw scored 14 points with Silver Lake scoring 7. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Silver Lake got their offense rolling, putting up 22 points to Kenesaw’s 18. The final score for the game was 58-37. Sophomore Lane Conway said, “We need to work on our man defense to prepare for the Holiday Tournament.”
