On Monday, October 4, the JV football team stole a win from McCool Junction. The final score was 26-12. Coach Crowe said, “That it was a very satisfying win. All of the players suited up and played many minutes, and also played well.” The team cheered and kept the team confident throughout the game, and they pulled it off.
The top players were freshman Casey Conway and sophomore Trey Vance. Conway made two touchdowns and Vance made three touchdowns. Additionally, freshman Paxton Sorensen had a total of seven tackles throughout the game. Also, sophomore Manuel Fontes made an extra point to get some more points for the team. Other players that did well for blocking were freshman Cody Plambeck, sophomore Jack Sorensen, and junior Brayden Karr. They made a nice opening for freshmen Lane Conway to pass the football to Trey Vance and to make a touchdown to beat the McCool Junction Mustangs.
The JH had a hard loss to McCool Junction, 18-61. Coach Knehans said, “It was another tough loss, but we haven’t had many opportunities to match up well size-wise with other teams this season. We’ve been working on tackling low and using our momentum, we’ll get there.”
The top players were eighth-grader Drake Rosno and seventh-grader Xander Journey. Rosno had two touchdowns and Journey earned one to add some points to the scoreboard to help the team out. The Mustangs will face Deshler on Monday, October 11 on the road.
