The Silver Lake gym was excited to see the Lady Mustangs come out onto the court ready to defeat the Bobcats. Assistant Coach Logan Farley said, “The girls had a week since our last Varsity game and we haven’t had a C Team or JV game for 2 weeks so they were anxious to compete again.” The junior varsity came out ready to play, winning their game in a 2-0 sweep against the Bobcats. When varsity came onto the court they were ready to make the game plan work taking Blue Hill down in a three-set takedown. “I saw a lot of improvement in our hitters. We hit stronger and more accurately. The middle blockers had a busy game defending the net with many blocks, touches on blocks, and quick send backs,” commented Farley. Sophomore Emma Schmidt helped out a lot in the back row by getting 14 digs along with taking 25 serving receptions, and senior Lexi Wengler assisted the offense by getting 4 aces and 15 assists. Senior Georgi tenBensel put the pedal to the metal on the offense by putting up 14 kills and 13 digs. “The team’s positivity was much improved from the last two weeks. I am looking forward to seeing how much more the team improves through the season,” assistant coach Farley said. The Lady Mustangs have a record of 5-2 after the game come see the girls play tonight versus Shelton and a tournament this Saturday at Loomis.
