The annual Silver Lake Holiday Classic was originally scheduled for December 29th and 30th. Due to the weather, it was postponed until the 30th and 31st. On the 30th, the Silver Lake Lady Mustangs took on the Exeter-Milligan Timberwolves. Senior Madison Miller gave her thoughts about the game, “We went into the game knowing that they were going to be a tough team, and after the long break, we didn’t come out playing as well as we could have.” Katelyn Karr led the team with 13 out of the total 17 points. Georgi tenBensel had 7 rebounds and Amanda Erhman had 4 steals. After a tough battle, the Mustangs fell to a devastating loss of 17 to 40.
The Mustangs came out with some fire the next day though, against Parkview Christian. Katelyn Karr again scored the most points with 18, while Kerigan Karr put up 14. The Lady Mustangs really put in the effort to out-rebound the opposing team, and it paid off. The Seniors, Miller and Kerigan Karr, pulled down a total of 14 rebounds, with Kerigan Karr having 11 and Miller having 3. Trista Hanson added to the rebounding total with another rebound, while Samantha Bonifas really got aggressive with two steals. The ladies finished strong with a score of 63 to 24.
