The Mustangs dropped their first game of the season on their home court on Friday, January 10 against Blue Hill. Silver Lake struggled to get shots to fall, shooting merely 20% from the field. The Mustangs led by 3 at the quarter break and got outscored by 2 in the second quarter to lead 17-16 going into the half. Coming back to the court, the Mustangs and Bobcats remained competitive, with Silver Lake leading by 2 to start the last quarter of play. Unfortunately, some missed opportunities and turnovers led to the Mustangs’ demise as they were outscored by 8 in the fourth quarter leading to a 34-40 loss to the Bobcats.
On Saturday, Silver Lake traveled to Heartland-Lutheran for an afternoon game. Again, the Lady Mustangs struggled to score, shooting 27% from the field, which led to a close game that was tied at the half. Thankfully, the Mustangs found a rhythm and picked up some of their 21 steals in the fourth quarter, where they outscored the Red Hornets 16-5 to clinch the 44-29 win.
