For the second meet in a row, the Lady Mustangs track team has secured a victory. After acquiring a first-place title at the Blue Hill meet, the Mustangs were determined to achieve another. Overall, the girls brought home 20 medals, securing their first-place win with 110 points. In running events, junior Morgan Dinkler earned first place in the 3200 meter run, with a time of 14:30. Dinkler also earned first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:53. Sophomore Sophie Butler earned 5th in the 200 meter dash and the 800 meter run, earning times of 30.64 and 3:01, respectively. Sophomore Milla Butler earned second in the 1600 meter run, and 6th in the 800 meter run, with times of 6:55 and 3:02. Bringing it home in both field and sprinting events, freshmen Sophie Schmidt and MaKenna Karr earned multiple medals. Schmidt earned first in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, with times of 14.05 and 28.03. She also medaled first in long jump, with a jump of 15-3.5. Karr placed 5th in long jump with a jump of 14-4, 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.07, and 6th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 55.09. Sophomore Macy Parr also placed in long jump, her jump of 14-05 earning her 3rd place. The girls also showed up in throwing events; sophomores Katelyn Strampher and Katy Soucek both placed in shot put and discus. Soucek earned 5th in shot put with a throw of 31-3.5, and 6th in discus, throwing 90-11. Strampher earned 6th in shot put, throwing 30-5, and 2nd in discus with a throw of 101-01. In relays, three medals were obtained. The 400 meter relay, consisting of Karr, Soucek, Schmidt, and Sophie Butler earned first, with a time of 55.4. The 400 meter throwers relay earned third place, with a time of 1:05.4. The relay consisted of Strampher, Soucek, sophomore McKenna Pankoke, and freshman Karah Bartels. The 3200 meter relay team, consisting of Dinkler, Butler, Butler, and Parr earned second, getting a time of 12:24.
The Mustang boys also competed well in Kenesaw, earning 11 medals. In running events, junior Keaton Karr earned 2nd in both the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash, with times of 12.5 and 24.77. Freshman Hayden Karr placed 4th in the 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, and 1600 meter run with his times of 56.9, 2:13, and 5:26. Freshman Jaxon tenBensel earned 4th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.2, and 5th in the 400 with a time of 57.7. In throwing events, junior Adrian Gomez earned first in shot put, with a throw of 45-08, and 6th in discus, throwing 109-07. In the 400 meter relay, consisting of tenBensel, Gomez, Karr, and junior Easton Heuertz, they placed 4th with a time of 51.05. Overall, the Mustangs competed very well, earning a total of 31 medals. Earning four gold medals at the Kenesaw Invitational, Schmidt comments, “I think our team has been competing very well recently, and I am excited to see how we do at TVC conference.” Come support the Mustangs on Saturday, April 29 in Franklin for their annual Twin Valley Conference Meet.
