Killing it in the First Home Games

By Morgan Dinkler

Mustangs swept the Cardinals and Red Hornets during the Silver Lake triangular. To start off the night, the Mustangs took on Harvard and took the game in two sets. Coach tenBensel commented, “I felt that the girls on the floor really responded to the energy in the gym! When they were cheering, then our bench began cheering and that pumped everyone up that much more!” Leading the Mustangs in assists was senior Lexi Wengler with 11 assists; junior Sydney Bartels led with 6 kills. After a small break, the Mustangs were back at it going against Heartland Lutheran. The Mustangs carried their energy from the Harvard game into this game and took the game in two sets. Sophomore Emma Schmidt led the team with 8 digs and senior Brooklyn Meyer led the team with 15 serve receptions. The Mustangs will play Shelton on September 8th with JV starting at 6 p.m. and varsity to follow.
