The junior high volleyball team started its season off on September 16, taking on Red Cloud. The Mustangs had a great first game, beating Red Cloud in two sets, 25-14 and 25-11. 8th grader Amielia Gomez led the team with 3 aces. Coach Henkel said, “I think the girls did a great job playing as a team and working through our first game jitters. It’s exciting to see the hard work they’ve put into getting ready for the game in action. We have some areas we need to improve on, but I’m excited to see how much we improve over the next 5 weeks of practices and games.” The very same week, the team took on Lawerence Nelsen for the second game of the season. The Mustangs started strong, taking the first set 25-14. Their momentum carried into the second set for a 25-11 win. 8th grader Leah Bartels had 4 ace serves to contribute to their second victory of the season.
