As children are affected by many different things in their daily lives, we have found it to be of great significance when they have a person of support, outside family members, to help them strengthen or enhance areas to help them thrive in their day-to-day tasks and interactions. The mental health program we provide will allow our therapists to meet with students individually and/or in group settings. From there, they can begin identifying areas of need, building helpful coping skills or providing intervention tools they can utilize to increase their effectiveness with their school work, peer interactions/relationships, group settings, etc.
In this program, we will not diagnose or provide evaluations, but rather meet with identified students in sessions lasting up to 30 minutes. Sessions will take place in a confidential location on school grounds and content remains confidential between the therapist and the student unless a safety issue is identified. The therapists collaborate with Silver Lake administration, staff, and teachers to help create an environment that is encouraging for all. (Please note, these services are not intended to replace, but can be used in conjunction with, traditional outpatient therapy.)
