College Course Climb

By: Shaylen Beaty and Natallia Gethrie

So far this year, Silver Lake students have made many achievements for the benefit of the school and for themselves. One such personal achievement is the immense increase of students, particularly those under the senior level, choosing to attend college classes. This is an exciting change. Students taking the personal initiative to work for their futures and take the benefits of college finances into their own hands shows great growth and character development.

College classes are an amazing opportunity and provide many benefits. They provide college credits for those hard working, determined students who know their future and have a solid plan ahead of them. Many students are already taking their classes, while some have only just started. One such student is Junior Katelyn Karr.Katelyn Karr, a soon-to-be psychology student states, “I”ll be taking psychology. I hope to gain a lot of experience out of it. You don’t have a  lot of options for classes you’d enjoy taking. Mainly, I’m trying to gain credits for college.” She also says “I’m glad we get this opportunity to experience what college will be like and have a better understanding of our future.” However, despite this increase in students taking classes for college, there can always be more. Katelyn Karr believes that “More underclassmen should take advantage of college classes if given the opportunity to try them. It could be very beneficial for their futures.”

Overall, this skyrocket of college class attendees shows bright signs for the future of our students, and hopefully, a bright future for us all.
