On Tuesday, February 9, the Lady Mustangs took on the Shelton Bulldogs for four quarters of intense basketball. The Mustangs came out eager to play, scoring 18 points to Shelton’s 21 at the end of the first half. Georgi tenBensel scored 8 points, Kerigan Karr had 7, and Katelyn Karr scored 3. The Lady Mustangs fought hard coming out after halftime, scoring 10 points, but it wasn’t enough to pull through with Shelton scoring 19 points, for a final score of 29 to 40. tenBensel was the team’s leading scorer with 11 points, while Kerigan and Katelyn had 7 each. Madison Miller contributed to the game with 1 free throw and 1 steal, while Amanda Erhman had 4 rebounds and 1 deflection. Samantha Bonifas had a tough job defending Shelton’s strong post player, so when Bonifas needed a quick rest, Trista Hanson stepped up to the plate and held her own down low. The Lady Mustangs will take on the Meridian Mustangs on Friday to honor Kerigan and Madison during Senior Night.
