Traveling to Franklin for their third meet of the season, the Mustang track team competed exceptionally and brought home many medals to prove it. Despite the windy conditions, the Mustangs managed to bring home twenty-one medals, all ranging from first to sixth place. Receiving gold medals for the girls were juniors Katelyn Strampher in discus and Paige Faimon in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Makenna Karr also received a gold medal in the 100-meter dash. Right alongside the girls, the boys also brought a couple of gold medals. Tayten Menke earned first in long jump, along with the boys’ 4×400 meter relay. The relay consisted of sophomore Jaxon tenBensel, junior Lane Conway, and seniors Menke and Jordan Faimon. Earning silver for the girls were sophomore Sophie Schmidt in the 200, and the 4×8 relay consisting of juniors Sophie Butler, Milla Butler, Paige Faimon, and senior Morgan Dinkler. Senior Adrian Gomez also earned a silver medal in shot put. Many athletes also earned 3rd place medals; Schmidt placed in the 100-meter dash and long jump, Makenna Karr in the 300-meter hurdles, junior Katy Soucek in discus, and sophomore Jaxon tenBensel in the 400-meter run. The girls 4×4 relay also placed 3rd, consisting of Makenna Karr, Schmidt, Paige Faimon, and Dinkler. Multiple boys brought home 4th place medals, including senior Keaton Karr in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes, tenBensel in the 300 hurdles, and Menke in high jump. Keaton Karr also placed 5th in long jump, along with the boys’ 4×100 relay, which consists of tenBensel, junior Casey Conway, Jordan Faimon, and Keaton Karr. Finally, placing 6th for the Mustang track team were Jordan Faimon in the 300-meter hurdles, Gomez in discus, and the boys 4×8 relay, which consists of freshman Lane Magarin, sophomores Hayden Karr and Jayden Parr, and Lane Conway. Bringing home three medals as a sophomore, Makenna Karr speaks on the team’s third meet of the season. “I think as a team we competed well even in the wind. We’ve been working hard in practice preparing for the Blue Hill meet, so I’m feeling hopeful going into this week.” Overall, the Mustang track team competed very well, despite the windy conditions. Come support the Mustangs at their next meet in Blue Hill on the 16th.
