On March 22, the High School Track team competed in their first outdoor meet at Wilcox Hildreth. The team was excited but also prepared for this competition because, for many years, this track meet has tested the competitors from all schools. Mother nature had a way of making this track meet the coldest one in the entire season, so the team knew they had to prepare for this bitter weather. But despite the grueling weather and tough competition, the track team made the most of it by competing hard and coming out victorious. Junior Katy Soucek said, “Everybody had to fight through the weather that day, but despite all that, we all did really well.” The girls’ team had the following medalists: 1st place – sophomore MaKenna Karr in 300 hurdles, 3rd – junior Paige Faimon in the 800 meter run, 4th – Karr in the 100-meter dash, 5th – sophomore Sophie Schidmt in 200 and 400-meter dash, and finally 6th – 4×100 meter relay (consisting of Karr, Soucek, Faimon, and Schmidt). The boys’ medalists are as follows: 1st – senior Adrian Gomez in the shot put, 2nd – 4×400 relay (consisting of sophomore Jaxon tenBensel, senior Jordan Faimon, freshman Brody Knehans, junior Lane Conway), 3rd – tenBensel in 300 hurdles, 4th – Faimon in 300 hurdles, 4×800 meter relay (consisting of freshman Lane Magarin, sophomore Hayden Karr, freshman Jayden Parr, and Conway), 5th – senior Keaton Karr in the 200-meter dash, and 6th – Karr in the 100-meter dash and Knehans in 300 hurdles.
