On Friday, January 5th, the Silver Lake Mustangs hosted the in-conference rival the Blue Hill Bobcats. The team started slow defensively allowing 26 points in the first half but staying ahead scoring 32 points of our own in the half. Senior Jordan Faimon had a good game going for 19 points and 4 rebounds. Head coach Shaun Fisher said, “We need to be crashing those boards and continue to keep getting second-chance points off of rebounds.” In the second half, the Mustangs got into a defensive rhythm only allowing 11 points and grabbing more rebounds. Senior Trey Vance had 10 rebounds total in the game and led the team in rebounds. The Mustangs landed a decisive victory against the Blue Devils and the next day would travel to Heartland Lutheran in Grand Island to face the Hornets. The team had a really good defensive game allowing only 26 points in total and an astonishing 3 points in the first half. With Faimon out this game, fellow senior Tayten Menke had to step up and he did, scoring 16 points. The boys played well and pulled out with the win.
