The Lady Mustangs traveled to Gibbon for their second away game on December 12th. They started off strong with 16 points in the first quarter compared to Gibbon’s 1. They scored 18 in the second quarter, 16 in the third, and 9 in the fourth, with a final score of 59-15. Sophomore Sophie Schmidt led offensively with 14 points. Junior Emma Schmidt was not far behind with 11 points. Leading the team in rebounds, sophomore MaKenna Karr, had 5 offensive rebounds and 3 defensive rebounds.
Three days later the Lady Mustangs fought hard against the Devils in Kenesaw. The first quarter started slow with Silver Lake losing 4-8 to Kenesaw. They came out hungry for points in the second quarter and scored 8 compared to Kensaw’s 6. The points in the third and fourth quarters tallied up to 9-8 and 11-14. The Lady Mustangs faced a hard loss with a score of 32-36. Head Coach Sinsel said, “I felt like our effort wasn’t reflected in the final score. We struggled to get the ball through the hoop. We just couldn’t get any shots to fall.” Leading offensively was Emma Schmidt with 10 points. Additionally, junior Katy Soucek and Karr each scored 7 points. Karr also had the most offensive rebounds, with 5. In defensive rebounds, Soucek led with 5. The Mustangs went into the Holiday break with a record of 4-2.
