In the last week of the fall semester, the Lady Mustangs hit the road to challenge the Buffaloes from Gibbon and the Blue Devils from Kenesaw. On Tuesday, December 17, Silver Lake played close with Gibbon for three quarters but ultimately defeated the Buffaloes by outscoring them by 10 in the fourth quarter, leaving the final score at 46-30. The Mustangs struggled to find success from behind the arch, with no three-point shots finding the net. However, inside the arch, the Mustangs dominated the Buffaloes, shooting 49% and holding the Buffaloes to just 23%. Finding boards helped the Mustangs as they pulled down 36 rebounds. Silver Lake looked to eliminate some turnovers from Tuesday’s match in the game against Kenesaw.
On Friday, the Mustangs once again started off with a close game, finishing the first quarter tied at 7. However, despite early foul trouble, they were able to outscore the Blue Devils by 12 in the second and third quarters, giving themselves some comfort going into the fourth quarter. The Mustangs ultimately won 49-32. Draining six three-pointers to shoot 40% was a huge improvement for the Mustang’s offense. The Mustangs also managed to limit turnovers and picked up some points in transition off of 14 steals. The Mustangs improved their record to 5-0 on the season with the two wins.
