The Silver Lake Lady Mustangs took on the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons in an afternoon of volleyball at Wilcox on October 6. The Junior varsity started off the night by winning the first set 25-11. In the next set, the C team came out with high intensity. Even though it was a hard-fought set, the final score was 24-26. The Mustangs had to pull out to play another set with a final score of 15-8 pulling out a win. Coach tenBensel said, “I thought the first set we came out a little off; I think mainly due to having new players in spots! After the first set; everyone settled down, started communicating more, and playing better defense; then we were right there with them the entire time! Our offense really stepped it up after set one as well and that is something that I hope carries on with those girls; staying aggressive at the net at all times!” Varsity came out with a strong hope to follow the winning lead of the JV. Even though they played hard, the Falcons won the first set 23-25. The varsity started the second set off strong. While it was a struggle, the Lady Mustangs took the win in the second set 23-25. The third set of the night the girls come out determined to play hard. The Lady Mustangs won with a final score of 25-16.
