If you traveled to Palmer Friday night, you probably heard Keaton Karr’s name on the loudspeaker. Karr, a junior, led the Mustangs to a comeback victory in their opening game of the season against the Tigers. The Mustangs were trailing the Tigers 14-8 after the first quarter, but they were able to overcome the Tigers by halftime, leading by 2 points going into the break. The Mustangs had an exciting 4th quarter scoring 24 points. Karr broke the school’s 8-man rushing yard record with 354 rushing yards on 36 carries, number 1 in the state, and 379 all-purpose yards. On defense, Karr led the team with 10 tackles and earned an interception. Junior Angus Anderson had 1 interception as well. Also on defense, sophomore Casey Conway earned 9 tackles. The team also broke the school record for total all-purpose yards in a single game with 552 yards. Junior Adrian Gomez had 9 carries for 50 yards and 2 touchdowns and senior Cody Pankoke also added a touchdown for the Mustangs.
Keaton Karr said, “It felt good to know all my hard work paid off. I think the rest of the season will go well if we continue to work hard in practice and fix our mistakes.”
